The juice of the lemon is quite effective in curing hangovers. When you drink too much alcohol, the liver works overtime to try and filter the alcohol out of your system, lemon juice supports detoxification by enhancing liver function and tissue regeneration. Simply cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a glass of water, if you think you are really strong you can drink your lemon juice straight.
To use tomatoes to help a hangover, you can simply eat a few tomatoes, make some soup or just squeeze the juice and drink it. Alcohol depletes vitamin C in the body and tomatoes have been known to ease hangover symptoms, as they are rich in vitamin C, so basically it’s the same principle as lemon juice.
You know that shaky feeling you get from drinking too much? Well that occurs because alcohol depletes the body of essential electrolytes. Bananas are rich in potassium, so eat a few bananas or if you can’t stomach solid food, like most people feel when they wake up with a hangover, you can use your blender to make a banana punch.
Honey has many uses and hangover cure is one. It contains fructose (the sweetness) which helps your body metabolize the alcohol more and it also contains potassium, just like bananas. If your hangover is extremely bad, you can take two to six teaspoons of honey every 20 minutes or you can combine it with bananas.
Alcohol dehydrates the body of fluids so the more water you intake, the more fluids you replace and the better the body will recover. Drinking lots of water when you wake up with a hangover can help you to feel a bit better and in some cases much better however, water really works best to prevent hangovers.
